The famous psychiatrist Carl Jung made the following observation, "That which we do not bring into consciousness appears in our lives as fate." This is a powerful reminder of the importance of self-awareness. In my work as a psychologist I try to facilitate this awareness in a supportive and compassionate atmosphere. Delving into our problems can be uncomfortable. but having a compassionate guide makes the process easier. Many clients who initially feel uncomfortable report that the therapeutic process has helped relieve their anxiety and discouragement and increased their ability to show themselves compassion.
